Inspiring Yogi | Kim Krutka

Today we feature yogi, Kim Krutka from our Denton studio. Kim has been practicing at Inspire Yoga since it opened its doors on W. Hickory in 2015. She is devoted to her practice and is involved in what makes the community feel at Inspire Yoga Denton so special. We are thrilled to feature her story and are excited for you to get to know her!

My yoga journey began about a year and a half ago when I started practicing with my friend who was going through yoga teacher training at the time. Then, I was lucky enough to move into the apartments above the newly opened Inspire Yoga in Denton. It quickly became my yoga home!

My yoga practice has had an impact on both my physical and mental fitness. I have been able to find more balance, and am still pursuing that balance through what I’ve learned and continue to practice in yoga. I have never had this much muscle! I have developed an ability to find an internal peace in ways I did not have before I started practicing yoga. I love working on new poses, which is often fueled by the Instagram yoga community’s challenges. I also like to spread the yoga love and encourage people to try it out, because I truly love and believe in it.

I adore and feel blessed by the Inspire Yoga studio, instructors, and my fellow yogis. I would not be on this journey without them. One thing that has always stuck with me was said by Brent in one of my first months at Inspire. He pointed out that other workouts can push people to do anything to distract themselves from their physical effort at that time. That is what another workout of mine (running) is for me. I try to distract myself with music, podcasts, anything! Yoga is something that teaches me to actually become more focused on myself and what I am practicing — I am looking inward. The mental and emotional side of yoga is something I personally have never found in another practice, and I cherish it!

Let’s get to know her a little more!

Q: What do you do for a living?

I am a school librarian (I love it!)

Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Finding new ways to connect students to books (or any resource!) to encourage their love of learning.

Q: Favorite color?

Purple!

Q: Tell us about a “breakthrough” moment in your yoga practice.

I don’t know if it can be called a “moment” …but when I really started gaining strength – in my core especially – is when I really believed that I was physically able to continue to grow in my yoga practice.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Denton?

It’s a hard to pick one :). So I’ll go with LSA and Seven Mile.
